Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple: follow the Golden Rule and apply it to all Customer relationships.  We believe we have three Customers:

Clients-the people who have given us the opportunity to provide a service.

Employees-the people who deliver on the promises we make to our Customers.

Suppliers/Vendors-the people who provide us with the supplies and services we need to provide our service and create our product.

We have a very low turnover rate at Olson’s. Family is a priority and supporting what employees need to accomplish a work-life harmony is important and provided in offering flexibility in time off and delivering a benefit package that delivers medical care and retirement planning.

Benefits Package

Paid Vacation: One week after one year of service, two weeks after two years of service, three weeks after seven years of service, four weeks after thirteen years of service.

Paid Holidays: Seven to nine paid holidays per year.

401(k) Plan: Employees are eligible after 1000 hours of service; Company matching up to 4%.

Financial Planning: Award-winning Financial Planner available at no charge to 401(k) participants.

Medical Insurance, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance, Accident, Death, & Disability Insurance: Full-time Employees are eligible the first day of the month after a full calendar month of service; paid 100% for the Employee.

Uniforms: Work pants, jackets, winter-weight bibs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and PPE provided at no cost; $175.00 annual reimbursement for mandatory safety boots.

Employee Discount: Materials at cost, plus sales tax; 25% discount on scheduled services.

Education: Paid ongoing safety training, relevant coursework through University of Minnesota, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Minnesota Utility Contractor’s Association, Minnesota Trucking Association, and other professional resources.

No outstate or overnight travel.  The exception would be for two to three-day training, scheduled in Minnesota (travel, class fees, hotel, meals and class attendance pay included).

Weekend work is rare and generally limited to snowplowing and emergency water or sewer main repairs.

And yes, we do give time off during the prime contracting season for your fishing trip, hunting trip, family commitments, and more-we just ask for advance notice whenever possible and your consideration to the rest of the team.
